Policy for Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Large Language Models, and Machine Learning Models with LTC Data Cooperative Electronic Health Record (EHR) Data
Summary: Using only LTC Data Cooperative data, it is allowable to import an AI tool or model that does not require GPU-level processing power, but only if being used for an eligible study. It is not allowed to export a model after use with LTC Data Cooperative data.
- An AI-based tool or model may be imported to the Enclave but not exported. It may only be imported when it can be used in service of comparative effectiveness studies (i.e., for a study that has been deemed an eligible study).
- Only AI tools that do not need GPU-level processing power may be imported and used on the Enclave. GPU-level processing requires dedicated machines that require intensive and expensive electricity use to run, and therefore are cost prohibitive to access.
The following table summarizes the current policy regarding AI model use within LTC Data Cooperative.
